Why are you so nervous? You’re getting ready to marry the love of your life! This day is supposed to be one of the most special experiences ever. The planning and preparing may have been stressful, but you’re in the home stretch now. Though you’re aware of all these things, somehow you’ve still got knots in your stomach. With just a day or so before the big day how in the world are you going to calm those nerves before you walk down the aisle?

For starters, you should know that wedding jitters are common for brides and grooms. It’s almost as if all of your emotions are bubbling up at once in anticipation of your nuptials. You want the wedding to be perfect and more importantly, you want a marriage that lasts. So, it’s alright if you’re feeling jittery. 

Next, you’ll want to try some of these techniques to calm down those wedding day jitters fast. 

Go Party

Traditionally, the night before your wedding day your besties and relatives pitch in to take you out for a good time. A bachelor or bachelorette party is meant to take your mind off of things and celebrate one last time as a single person. Don’t let that opportunity pass you by. Instead, stop thinking about the wedding and your future and just have a good time. Your friends are likely pretty good at keeping your mind on the bright side of things, so allow them to do their job. 

Get Some Rest

On top of every other emotions you’re feeling in the days leading to your wedding day, you’re also feeling stressed. You’re hoping that the day goes off without a hitch. Tying up loose ends, double-checking checklists, dealing with last-minute issues, it can all be a lot. If you don’t want to clam up the day of your wedding it is important to get a good night’s rest. Even if that means checking into a hotel the night before for a relaxing sleep environment, make sure you’ve had at least 8 hours of sleep before the big day. 

Pamper Yourself

Nothing calms the nerves like a good pampering. Your wedding is all about you so why not treat yourself like royalty. The day before or the morning of, schedule a day of pampering for yourself. You can visit a salon and get a massage on comfortable spa massage tables, get a facial, and have your nails and feet done for your wedding. You’ll come out feeling so calm and prepped for your wedding that those nerves will wither away. 

Wedding Rehearsal 

Some people get jittery before their wedding simply because they don’t want to mess up. Fear of tripping down the aisle, stumbling over your vows, or some other catastrophe is common. That’s why they have wedding rehearsals. Take full advantage of this opportunity to learn your moves and go over your vows so you’re on point for your wedding. 

Eat Something

Those butterflies in your stomach may very well be grumblings from emptiness. Your emotions can get the best of you on an empty stomach. Your mind and body are deprived of nutrients they need to operate effectively resulting in everything from confusion and anxiety to headaches and stomach pains. If you can’t seem to eat an entire meal, at the very least, have a smoothie, protein bar, or a salad. 

Set the Tone

On the morning of your wedding, it’s all about the vibe. If you want to feel relaxed and at ease, then you need to create that type of environment around you. Vow to allow your wedding planner or bridesmaids to work out the remaining kinks and just keep calm. You can turn on some soothing music, light some scented candles, and even prepare a light drink to take the edge off. 

It’s happening! You’re finally getting ready to commit the rest of your life to someone you love deeply. Being nervous about all that is to come with your nuptials and future together is normal. You can get past these wedding day jitters by reducing the stress, lightening your load, pampering yourself, surrounding yourself with loved ones, and most importantly, setting the tone the day of. It may seem impossible, but following this advice will ensure that you’re filled with nothing but joy and love on your wedding day.
