“Shining, shimmering, splendour” might as well be the philosophy behind the making of this sneaker. The John Maeda x Reebok ERS 5000 “Reduce” sneaker is a joint effort of Reebok and graphic designer John Maeda. Not a first time for the two, because they already teamed up in 2007 with the Ventilator Timetanium.
The John Maeda x Reebok ERS 5000 “Reduce” has a very basic design and it relies solely on the shimmer of its material to attract sneaker people. No extraordinary details or eye-boggling design here, just lots of shimmer to blind your eyes away.
The sneaker has a tonal metallic silver upper which is responsible for that eye-blinding effect. Never use camera flash on this sneaker if you ant to stay sane, because for sure, it will cause a major hullabaloo! The shoe has plastic eyelets and the traditional white soles to complement the overall simple look.
The John Maeda x Reebok ERS 5000 “Reduce” sneaker was actually inspired by Law 1 in the book of Maeda. Law 1 tackles the “Laws of Simplicity”, which may be the reason why he came up with a very basic sneaker design, but with a killer shimmer.
